Animal Farm

Bootsie, Tint-of-Gold, Rhythm and George - do any of these ring a bell?

  1. Those golden days of summer on horseback. What fun it was for Pam, Sherri, Janice and me to take the horses swimming at Gloskey's farm. Or to go "over the railroad tracks and through the fields" behind Old Olesnanik's.

Pam, do you remember when we went sled riding back there? It was sooo cold. We were there for hours and by the time we got back I think we had (or almost had) frostbite. We should have known by then to always take the horses. They're faster and WARMER!

Whenever I want a good laugh, I think of Val riding George. When he kicked, then farted, scared himself and started bucking! Or when she had that carrot on a pole and string dangling in his face. That's the way to use the carrot and stick approach!

I see that you didn't mention Topper. What a crazy animal! If he didn't feel like going anymore, he'd just lie down and roll over. Right over you, if you weren't careful! Did somebody really buy him or did he go to the glue factory?

I hope someday soon to have access to horses again. I know a couple of people here in Madison who keep horses and maybe this spring I will see if they "need" someone to exercise them.
